Women of St. Luke's

Teresa Wankel, President

Meredith Yacavone, Secretary

Diane Wikander, Treasurer

14“You are the light of the world.  A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.  15Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.  16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”  Matthew 5:14-16 New King James Version (NKJV)

The Women of St Luke’s meet every other month in Thomason Hall located in the lower level of the church.  It’s the perfect time to catch up on upcoming  events.  Our meetings usually bring forth some great ideas and an awareness of the skills and talents women have to offer to the church.

Everyone is given the opportunity for spiritual growth, fellowship and the answer to the call for service, social action and advocacy.

We are very active in the life here at St Luke’s and in the extended community.  Our membership includes the church Verger, Parish treasurer and Usher Coordinator.  We serve on the Altar Guild and as Ushers, Acolytes, Lay Readers and Vestry members.  We’re involved on Fellowship and Outreach, Education and Memorial Garden committees.  Many in our group also volunteer at the local Food Pantry and are very involved at Feed Fannin and with Toys for Tots.

The Women of St Luke’s host a  Bible Study each year which is open to all women. Studies generally run from 6 to 8 weeks and incorporate video lessons led by experienced, respected Bible teachers on a variety of topics. Most studies are held in the winter to early spring months. Studies are facilitated by our members and encourage discussion and sharing through the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

Each year the Women of St Luke’s plan and participate in fund raising events including our Annual Yard Sale in September and our annual Christmas Bazaar in           December.  Proceeds from these events enable us to provide support to:

Barnabas Fund                                                 Family Connection

Feed Fannin                                                     Good Samaritan Fund

Her Hope Pregnancy Center                             Immanuel Church

North Georgia Community Action                      Safe Choice Pregnancy Center

Snack-in-a-Backpack                                        Sunny D Children’s Theater Camp

We invite all women to join us in our mission to serve Christ, our Church and our Community.
